The Rite of the Waters of Life

‘The center of ritual for most Reformed Druid groups is the Rite of the Waters of Life. In it’s most basic form, this ritual goes something like this:

(The Server stands next to the Archdruid (AD) holding a chalice filled with spring water.)
AD: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
DRUIDs: NATURE IS GOOD, NATURE IS VERY GOOD, THOU ART GOD/DESS!
AD: So Say We All!
DRUIDS: SO SAY WE ALL!
AD: Of what does the Earth-mother give that we may know the continual flow and renewal of life?
DRUIDs: THE WATERS-OF-LIFE.
AD: From Whence do these waters flow?
DRUIDs: FROM THE BOSOM OF THE EARTH MOTHER, THE NEVER CHANGING ALL-MOTHER.
AD: And how do we honor this gift that causes life in us?
DRUIDs: BY PARTAKING OF THE WATERS-OF-LIFE.
AD: Has the Earth Mother given forth of her bounty?
DRUIDs: SHE HAS!
AD: Then give me the Waters!

(Server gives the chalice to the AD)
AD: O Dalon ap Landu, Hallow these waters by thy seven-fold powers and by the three ways of day and one of night. Cleanse our hearts and join us together as we take and drink of thy secret essence!

(The AD holds up the chalice so that all can see it.)
AD: This is the Water of Life! Happy are those who are called to Drink Deep of it. May those who do so never thirst.

(The AD passes it to the Server, who drinks and passes it to the Druid on his right. Everyone drinks their water – saying, \”May you never thirst,\” thou art goddess,\” \”drink deep\” etc., as they do)

(When the chalice completes the circle, the AD takes the last sip, pouring out the remainder on the nearest tree)
AD: To thee we return this portion of thy bounty, O our Mother, even as we must return to thee.

(The Druids take their seats and observe a period of  silent meditation).
